IP Net technology offering #IP0000353
Title Method for creating Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells
What the technology is A safer non-viral plasmid vector for generating induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS).
What it does This non-viral reprogramming technology enables complete elimination of exogenous reprogramming factors and provides a safer method for producing iPS cells for drug screening, regenerative medicine and establishment of disease models.
Possible applications Establishment of iPS cells as research tools to study the processes of pluripotency; Production of research kits cells; Production of unlimited supplies of reliable human pluripotent cells for in vitro drug screening
Perceived UNIQUE ADVANTAGES Simple and quick – all four reprogramming factors are transfected at the same time; Unlimited supplies of standardised human iPS cells can be produced for regenerative medicine and drug screening
Further Information such as stage of development A PCT Patent application has been filed. The University of Edinburgh would like to hear from companies wishing to license this technology to develop iPS tools and reagents and/or collaborate in its further development.
