Title
Rapid test for Hepatitis C Virus drug efficacy
What the technology is
An assay that allows the rapid identification of drugs to treat Hepatitis C virus.
What it does
This is the first facile system that allows the growth of all HCV strains in vitro and the rapid efficacy of novel protease inhibitor drugs to be assessed. The technology can be used to assess HCV drug resistance and to determine the most appropriate treatment regime for infected individuals.
Possible applications
Diagnostic Kit of improved patient outcomes; Drug discovery; Diagnostic phenotypic assay for drug selectivity; Research tools
Perceived UNIQUE ADVANTAGES
Simple and cost effective method to simultaneously in vitro test drug efficacy for all strains of Hepatitis C; Improved patient outcomes; Cost savings for health providers by reducing use of inappropriate drugs
Further Information such as stage of development
